Professor Kyoko Ohno-Matsui

Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan

Kyoko Ohno-Matsui is Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU). She is also the Chief of the High Myopia Clinic of TMDU.

Her research mainly focuses myopia, especially pathologic myopia. The High Myopia Clinic at TMDU was established in 1974, and now registered patients have exceeded 6,000 from all over Japan and from abroad. Based on the long-term progression study, she established international photographic classification of myopic maculopathy. As a method to visualize the shape of the entire globe, she established a new technique called ‘3D MRI of the eye’. Based on 3D MRI and wide-field fundus imaging, she proposed a novel classification of posterior staphyloma.

Dr. Ohno-Matsui has been the recipient of Young Investigator Award in Japanese Ophthalmological Society and the Excellence in Research Award at TMDU. She has authored or co-authored over 238 manuscripts which were published in prestigious journals. She authored ‘Pathologic Myopia’ textbook with Dr. Richard Spaide. Professor Xun Xu

Shanghai General Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China

Professor Xun Xu is the director of the Eye Center of Shanghai General Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, executive chief of Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention Center. Chairman of Ocular Fundus Disease Group of Ophthalmology Society of Chinese Medical Association, vice chairman of Ocular Fundus Disease Committee of Ophthalmology Society of Chinese Medical Association.

He has been focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and research of ocular fundus diseases and holds the national 12th Five-Year Science and Technology Key Projects, National Nature Science Fund Key Projects, 11th Five-Year Science and Technology Supporting Plan and other 10 national level programs. He has published 103 theses included SCI. He was awarded National Science and Technology Advancement Prize (grand 2) in 2008, Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Advancement Prize (grand 1) in 2007 and 2013，Chinese Science and Technology Advancement Prize (grand 1) in 2011.

Professor Salomon Y. Cohen

University of Paris Est, France

Salomon Y. Cohen received his MD from Paris University in 1990. He performed most of his ophthalmology residency in departments specialized in Retina, and his fellowship at the Creteil University Eye Clinic, chaired by Professor Gabriel J. Coscas. He completed the European Board of Ophthalmology diploma, and completed a master in biology and a PhD in Neurosciences. He is currently practicing as Retina specialist in private practice in Paris, France and at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital of Creteil, in Professor Eric Souied’s department. He obtained the grade of Associate Professor in the Creteil University in 2014.14.

He authored 8 books devoted to fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, ageing eye, age-related macular degeneration, low vision rehabilitation, and an 8-volumes book on Retina.

He authored more than 175 papers, most of them in peer-reviewed international journals.

He is past secretary of the Paris Ophthalmological Society, and member of the Macula Society, the Club Jules Gonin, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Euretina Society.

He is recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award, and member of the Editorial Board of the journal RETINA.
